Before she was Gaga, she was Stefani Germanotta, a dark-haired music student at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts who happened to sing and play the piano really well. She never did graduate, as bigger things came along.

Here young Stefani, unencumbered by ten-inch shoes, face lace or pyrotechnic breasts, performs two original pieces for the university’s talent show.
